Sustainability at Neighbor

Here's how protecting the planet informs the way we design outdoor furniture.

Sustainability at Neighbor

From the beginning, our goal at Neighbor has been to encourage spending more time outdoors with friends and loved ones through good design. With that in mind, sustainability is at the core of everything we do, and we’re working hard to reduce our impact by designing outdoor furniture with sustainably-sourced, organic, and durable materials and minimizing waste in our supply chain and shipping materials.

Sustainable materials

When you own Neighbor furniture, you'll notice our attention to detail, quality, and carpentry. We make our furniture to last because it’s better for you and the planet and invest in the highest quality materials so you don’t have to worry about replacing or throwing things away each year.

Our furniture is beautiful and durable and made with the materials we've found will last longest outdoors. We use FSC-certified Grade A teak, performance Sunbrella fabric with recycled fibers and POLYWOOD lumber from ocean and landfill-bound plastic. One of the reasons we design with teak is because it is naturally weather resistant. Teak patinas and gets more beautiful with age and can be easily restored to perfect condition after years of use.

Earth Day 2022

This year for Earth Day, we plan to donate 1% of all purchases made between April 22nd and April 30th to the National Forest Foundation’s Northern Arizona Forest Fund. This project improves watersheds and reduces wildfire risk for millions of residents in Phoenix and across Arizona, including Neighbor HQ and the Neighbor team.

Neighbor resale marketplace

Minimal, recycled packaging on all products

We're also announcing the launch of our resale marketplace through a partnership with Floor Found. Neighbor will offer discounts on open-box items and floor samples through the Floor Found website, which collects, inspects and resells furniture.

Giving our designs a second home keeps them in circulation and out of landfills. If you have any questions about the materials we use, please feel free to reach out to a Neighbor team member. We are outdoor enthusiasts who care about the health and beauty of the planet and are committed to protecting the earth for future generations.
