Frequently asked questions

Very little. There are no cushions to clean or store. The strap can be cleaned with mild soap and water, or a diluted bleach solution for tougher stains. The frame can be wiped down as needed. It can be left uncovered, though we recommend covering it to keep it clean and extend its lifespan. If you’re interested, we offer custom-made protective covers for nearly all of our products, including Up Down.

The strap is made from Sunbrella® stretch material, combining solution-dyed acrylic fibers with a flexible core. It’s designed for outdoor use and offers strong resistance to fading, moisture, mildew, and everyday wear.

Up Down uses a woven Sunbrella® stretch strap instead of traditional cushions. The result is a seat with a subtle give that flexes under pressure and supports evenly. It’s a more responsive, low-maintenance approach to outdoor comfort.

No. The strap is pre-tensioned to maintain its shape while allowing controlled flex. It’s engineered for high-use outdoor applications and designed to hold up over time.

It has a subtle give. The woven strap flexes slightly under weight, then supports evenly across the seat. It feels more responsive than a rigid chair, but more structured than a sling. You can try it at home with Neighbor’s 45-day trial. If it’s not for you, returns are easy. In practice, fewer than 2% of customers return theirs.
