Neighbor by Polywood: Behind The Design

A lakeside classic, recycled and redesigned: Introducing the Low Chair and Ottoman. The Low Chair is made using 100% recycled plastic in partnership with American outdoor furniture manufacturer, POLYWOOD. Our take on a classic Adirondack chair, the chair is comfortable, durable and ready for outdoor living.
The Adirondack chair is a classic outdoor furniture design known for its comfort and durability. When thinking through the design for our new Low Chair, we wanted to keep some of the features of a traditional Adirondack chair: wide arms, reclined back, and sturdy base, but make it feel more minimal, modern, and versatile. Looking at our chair, you’ll notice we lowered the back, squared the silhouette, and widened the seat for added comfort.
What is POLYWOOD?
A partnership with POLYWOOD felt natural for our design team and is something we’re very excited to share with our customers. The brand is based out of Syracuse, Indiana and are committed to sustainable and eco-friendly practices. They’ve been making lumber out of recycled milk jugs and bottles since the ’90’s and process over 400,000 milk jugs per day on average. The lumber for our Low Chair and Ottoman is made in the USA using 100% landfill and ocean bound high density polyethylene plastic that is milled and reshaped in outdoor furniture. The lumber has a 20-year warranty, is easy to clean, and is UV-protected.
The Low Chair
Like traditional lake-chair designs before it, our Low Chair is made for comfort and connection. The chair is perfect for around a bonfire, on the front porch, or overlooking the water on a dock, deck, or grass. We designed this chair to make you feel closer to nature (it’s literally low to the ground) and to the family and friends you spend time with outdoors. We think this chair is timeless; a mix of modern and traditional, old and new.
The Low Chair is available in white, black, and charcoal — shop now.
