Frequently asked questions

The seat is made from Sunbrella® stretch strap, a woven material built with solution-dyed acrylic fibers and a thermoplastic elastomer. Like all Sunbrella fabrics, their strap is designed for outdoor use, with strong resistance to fading, moisture, mildew, and everyday wear.

It’s a different kind of sit. The woven Sunbrella® strap has a subtle give, allowing it to flex. Many say it bounces subtly under weight, then supports you evenly across the seat. It feels more responsive than a rigid chair, but more structured than a sling. Comfortable right away, and easy to stay in.

The teak is left natural and will develop a silver-gray patina over time if exposed to the elements. This doesn’t affect performance and is a normal characteristic of high-quality teak.

Very little. There are no cushions to clean or store. The strap can be cleaned with mild soap and water, and even a diluted bleach solution for tougher stains. The frame can be wiped down as needed.

Most outdoor woven strap chairs use rigid webbing with little flexibility. The Up Down Chair uses a stretch-based strap system that adds subtle give and creates a more comfortable, responsive sit without relying on cushions.
